HISTORY

  • Our beautiful red brick building had its official opening as a Presbyterian Church on December 27, 1903. It replaced a church built in 1867/68. The total cost of the new church was $5,700.
  • In January 1925 the congregation joined the United Church of Canada. Since then many upgrades have been made, such as replacing the wooden basement floor with cement, adding hydro, changing the wood furnace to oil and more recently to gas, adding a kitchen and also an indoor washroom.
  • In 1967 the Salem United Church congregation amalgamated with Kilsyth.
  • Twenty-nine ministers have served since the present building was erected.
  • We continue to care for the church building and grounds to make it a welcoming and pleasant place to congregate and worship.
